When transporting refrigerated containers on deck, heat dissipation rarely causes problems. However, if refrigerated containers are transported below deck, which is increasingly the case, the heat produced by the containers must be removed from the hold. Depending on the length of the journey, the types of containers used and the predominating cargo, it may be necessary to dissipate between 7 kW and 15 kW of heat per 40' container.
