| Lumber is a hygroscopic packaging material. Air dry lumber is considered container dry if its equilibrium moisture content is 70 - 75%, i.e. its water content is 12 - 15%. It very often happens that cases are made from lumber which is too green and thus too wet (water content > 15%), resulting in the growth of mold on fruit and vegetables, for example. |
